![]() ![]() Either way, all readers will have their minds opened wide and will hopefully grow up to be adults that will always remember they were once children, too. ![]() What unfolds is a marvelous story that some will deem happy and some will find sad. The pilot obeys this odd request, which strangely enough leads to the pilot learning more about the Little Prince and where he came from. One day a little boy, oddly dressed, shows up out of nowhere and insists that the pilot draw him a sheep. The story begins on Earth with the narrator-a crashed pilot stranded in the Sahara Desert, who is trying hard to repair his wrecked plane. “All grown-ups were once children… but only a few of them remember it.” On his journey, he discovers the unpredictable nature of adults. The prince is a small boy from a tiny planet (an asteroid to be precise), who travels the universe, planet-to-planet, seeking wisdom. The Little Prince is an honest and beautiful story about loneliness, friendship, sadness, and love. Similarly to the pilot in his story, while flying a mission during World War II, Antoine de Saint-Exupéry’s plane was shot down, and it disappeared somewhere over the Mediterranean. ![]() The author, Antoine de Saint-Exupéry, was a pilot. The Little Prince is a book that has been translated into English from the French language. ![]()

Love on the brain book review6/9/2023 ![]() ![]() ![]() The possibilities have all her neurons firing. Mythos stephen fry review6/9/2023 ![]() ![]() ![]() One thing I truly appreciate about this book is that, from the very beginning, the author reminds us that in no way are we expected to remember the names or relationships between the various players as there are far too many. Instead, this book provides a broad overview of the key players in Greek mythology, the gods, as well as all of the poor humans, nymphs, fauns, and other creatures who are seduced, murdered, and punished by said gods. The way the stories are told is easy to consume at a superficial level. In terms of the retelling of the myths, this was the broadest and most comprehensive collection of stories thus far. This is the third book I’ve read on Greek myths in the past four months. ― Stephen Fry, Mythos: The Greek Myths Reimagined Like most great visual artists he was an incompetent musician and a deplorable poet.” He lay her upon it and sang ballads to her. “He bought a couch that he adorned with silks of Tyrian purple. ![]()

![]() ![]() Yet there had been plenty pointing me to Kelly. It was Carey’s second time on the Booker’s winning podium (firstly for Oscar and Lucinda), only the second person (after JM Coetzee) to win the prestigious award twice.įor some reason, despite the accolades and my appreciation of Carey’s work, it wasn’t until I was living in New York that I cracked the spine of this much lauded story of Australia’s favourite outlaw, Ned Kelly. True History of the Kelly Gang was awarded the 2001 Booker prize. Carey stayed for 26 years with the small press who’d got him going, even though he’d no doubt been wined and dined since his early success by suitors from every major publishing house bearing briefcases of cash. True History of the Kelly Gang was published in 2000 by the University of Queensland Press, which had published each of Carey’s previous books since his first in 1974. ![]() |
