Library mouse home sweet home6/12/2023 Even if students have never heard of these types of homes, there are pictures to show you what they look like. Sarah and Sam build classical buildings from ancient Rome, a Mongolian home called a yurt, a castle, an igloo, a cottage with a thatched roof, and a Turdor-style house. I like that even though this is a fictional book, and the main characters are mice, the author includes actual buildings, and pictures of what they look like. Instead of just using a glossary for big words, the author incorporated the definitions into the actual text and it doesn’t disrupt the flow of reading. “ What’s that?” “It’s the art of designing buildings,” Sam answered. “So they’re going to redo the library.” Another example is, “I hope they haven’t packed up the architecture books yet,” Sam said. Sarah asked, “What does that mean?” Sam frowned as he went to the dictionary to see what the word meant. For example, “Renovations,” he said warily. Show More things, he would surely say reading and writing,” and “If you were to ask Sam’s friend Sarah what her favorite things were, she would say exploring and having adventures.” I also liked how the author introduces big words that 2nd graders might not know.

Upon the Declaration of Indulgence in 1672 he obtained a license to preach at the great hall in Crosby House. Not withstanding the rigor of the acts against dissenters, Watson continued to exercise his ministry privately as he found opportunity. He obtained great fame and popularity as a preacher until the Restoration, when he was ejected for nonconformity. He was released on 30 June 1652, and was formally reinstated as vicar of St. He showed strong Presbyterian views during the civil war, with, however, an attachment to the king, and in 1651 he was imprisoned briefly with some other ministers for his share in Christopher Love's plot to recall Charles II of England. In 1646 he commenced a sixteen year pastorate at St. He was educated at Emmanuel College, Cambridge, where he was noted for remarkably intense study. 1620 - 1686) was an English, non-conformist, Puritan preacher and author. Save the pearls revealing eden6/12/2023 It’s a really cool and unique story, with graphic, way out there elements that take me to another world, as well as all the romantic twists and turns that set the best adventure romance novels apart from the rest. Gifted with mysterious powers and pointed ears, Analia is held captive in a world she doesn’t belong in, When she escapes and hides on a merchant ship, she meets and starts to fall for a devastatingly handsome demon who has the power to save her. Since I love science fiction and fantasy books, I was thrilled to find one with some romance woven in. Plus, the forbidden romance is pretty delicious. A boarding school where vampires learn the ways of magic? Sign me up! St. I’d take it with me if I had the room.Īnother of my favorite paranormal romance novels is Vampire Academy. I know not what the road ahead of me has in store, so if I have a few romance fantasy novels, at least I’ll be able to have a place where I can get into a fantasy state of mind.įor awhile, I was really into paranormal romance books, so yes, I did follow the masses and check out that old classic Twilight series. I’ll need some material to keep my mind distracted when I actually do have to escape. That way I’ll know which ones to pack in case the Uni-Gov comes knocking on my door. Since I love to escape into romance fantasy novels and science fiction and fantasy books, I figured I should make a list of my absolute, all-time favorites.

Revelation shardlake6/12/2023 His search leads him to connections not only with the boy in Bedlam, but with Archbishop Cranmer and Catherine Parr, and with the dark prophecies of the Book of Revelation. Should he be released as his parents want, when his terrifying actions could lead to him being burned as a heretic? Then, when an old friend is horrifically murdered, Shardlake promises his widow - for whom he has long had complicated feelings - to bring the killer to justice. Matthew Shardlake, meanwhile, is working on the case of a teenage boy, a religious maniac who has been placed by the King's council in the Bedlam hospital for the insane. Archbishop Cranmer and the embattled Protestant faction at court are watching keenly, for Lady Catherine is known to have reformist sympathies. It is spring, 1543 and King Henry VIII is wooing Lady Catherine Parr, whom he wants for his sixth wife - but this time the object of his affections is resisting.

Namesake fable book 26/11/2023 Like, ma’am, I could’ve told you that at the end of last book, where have you been? The man literally told you that he has killed 16 people and that he loved you in the same breath. She acts somewhat surprised that West’s hands are covered in blood and that he is willing to do anything for her. Though I do have a bit of a question for Fable. I said it before and I’ll say it again, but it’s the type of romance where they’d give their soul and left arm for each other, and burn anything and everything that got in their way. It’s really interesting to see the relationship from a different lens, especially when Fable gets snatched as well as the aftermath when they build up trust. I absolutely loved the relationship between Fable and West.

Émile zola nana6/11/2023 Fauchery is surprised when la Faloise greets the famous Count and Countess Muffat de Beuville and her father, the Marquis de Chouard. While waiting, Fauchery identifies many of the famous courtesans seated in the boxes. Everyone goes to his seat to await the curtain. Count Xavier de Vandeuvres comes forward to speak to Fauchery just as a crowd on the street begins to chant Nana's name. A handsome young man, Daguenet, passes the group and is identified as Nana's lover. Mignon, who arranges his wife's love affairs, tries to lead Steiner away from the discussion about Nana. Monsieur Mignon appears with the wealthy German-Jew banker, Steiner, who is having an affair with Mignon's wife Rose, the leading actress. He describes his new actress Nana, as a cheap whore "who sings like a crow" and "has no notion what to do with her hands and feet." However, he is confident that both Nana and the show will be a success because "Nana has something else, something as good as all the other things put together." There is a general air of anticipation awaiting the appearance of a new actress named Nana, who will play the role of Venus.īordenave, the producer of the play, meets the two young men and embarrasses the naive la Faloise by insisting that the theater be called a whorehouse. Alexander hamilton written works6/11/2023 The young officer wrote often to the Continental Congress (the government of the American colonies), asking for food and supplies for the troops. Hamilton served as Washington’s assistant for four years, helping him plan battles, manage staff, and write letters. He even impressed George Washington, then the commander of the army, who asked Hamilton to join his staff. Hamilton was a fearless fighter but an even better captain: He was organized and knew how to get the supplies his soldiers needed. Hamilton spoke at rallies and published papers in support of the American fight, and when the Revolutionary War began in 1775, he quit school and joined the army. While Hamilton was studying at a college in New York City, the American colonies were on the brink of war with Great Britain (now called the United Kingdom) to determine who would rule the land.

Michael todd dating series6/10/2023 With that being said, it is important for us to run to the scriptures in good times and in bad times. Being a Believer is being a minority within society because what God has called us to do is not what society values. However, once again, I believe it is prosperity gospel driven. I was able to relate to some of the other struggles Christians have when it comes to thinking of what society says. I think Pastor Michael Todd did a better job of explaining some of these struggles within this book. I will say that it is often said by parents to "not have sex before marriage" however, few dive into the why behind it other than "the bible says not to." Oftentimes one is more compelled to do or obey something when they understand why. I will say, it was great to read about Pastor Mike Todd's personal experience however, is very seldom to bring a vast amount of scripture to back up his claims. I thought this book was an easy read, unfortunately I believe it is filled with the prosperity gospel which doesn't bring light to who God really is. So I have come back to rewrite this review.

The wrong man delaney diamond6/10/2023 This is “I have power and you don’t.” Here’s Kofi explaining things:Īnd how do you propose to stop me? The royal plane is at my disposal. This isn’t: “I want to get to know my kid and I want shared custody,” either. …Kofi shows up to kidnap the baby (Noel is just over two years old at the start of the book). So Dahlia, who is not a thief, thank you VERY much, raises her son, Noel, on her own until… When Dahlia found out that she was pregnant, she tried to contact Kofi, but was told by Kofi’s right-hand-man that Kofi had a wife already, which was true, and which Kofi had neglected to tell Dahlia. Once upon a time, this asshole, Crown Prince Kofi Francois Karunzika of Zamibia, spent some time in New York where he had an affair with a woman named Dahlia, accused her of theft, and left. The one thing this book did well was present a positive view of an African country, albeit a made-up one. However, the country is portrayed in positive and optimistic terms overall. For one thing, sexism is clearly an issue there. The fictional Zamibia is not a perfect utopia. There is a real country in Africa called The Republic of Zambia, but it is a different place from the imaginary country of Zamibia in the book. |
